About The Brand
Makeup artist Kirsten Kjaer Weis had a simple question: Why can’t organic products achieve the results of their chemical-laden counterparts? She set out to find what was missing from safe brands–color consistency–with quality control front and center. The result: safe, artfully rendered color that enhances skin’s natural beauty.
I also love & use this as an undereye concealer
I truly LOVE this product also as an undereye concealer. Its a great convenient quick way to apply any amount of product that you need. You can add/layer more product to meet your needs although a little of this product goes a long way.
I prefer this to the non-clean foundation that I’ve been wearing for years. It has a beautiful finish, lasts most of the day, and is the perfect color. And the case is beautiful! I’m so glad I took the plunge to try this.
User friendly, Great Coverage - With Significant Skin Health Benefits
If you’re interested in sustainable makeup AND clean beauty, Kjaer Weis is a brand worth exploring and investing in. For any of their products, your initial cost of purchase is slightly higher because you are investing in a high quality stainless steel package that is reusable, low footprint in your makeup bag, and – honestly – really aesthetically pleasing. My skin: highly sensitive, at times dry but not dehydrated, prone to dermatitis and hypopigmentation, smooth texture with minimal acne and pores that are prone to clogging. To be transparent, I have a very strict skin care regimen, so I currently have good texture and complexion. Typical foundations do NOT do good things for my skin, but I find that this formula works on all levels – from application, to wear time, to long-term skin benefits. You can use their brush to apply, but I prefer the warmth of my middle finger to dot, then press into my skin. In terms of texture, it’s a structured creamy product, so I find that it’s easy to spread but not terribly slippery when on my face. My one issue is that if I don’t set it under my eyes, it settles in fine lines. A little powder really does help keep that in check. It wears throughout the day beautifully and wears off in a natural way that is not noticeable or patchy. If you’re someone who doesn’t like the feeling of traditional foundations, but want a multipurpose foundation that gives you day-to-day and special occasion coverage, give this product a whirl!
Not for Acne Prone Skin
I have been on a quest to find natural makeup that would work with my skin and had heard great things about this product. I absolutely loved this for the first two days and then the break-outs started coming. I did a little research and discovered it’s the coconut oil that does not agree with acne prone skin. It really is a great product, blends nicely and easy to build coverage but I would think twice if you were someone with acne prone skin. Needless to say Follain was great and has assisted me with picking something else out that would work with my skin type.
I love the color and how easy this stuff is to blend. The packaging is gorgeous and really practical. It’s a little drying for my skin though so have to make sure I use a lot of moisturizer and a primer if I’m going to o be wearing it for more that 5-6 hours.
Officially a Convert!
This is one of my first clean products in my attempt to make the move to all clean beauty—and I’m beyond impressed. I never thought I could like cream foundation, but this has turned me into a believer. It goes on smooth, is super buildable, and seems to match your skin tone even better as the day goes on.
Was looking for a great foundation that wouldn’t clog my pores and make it look obvious that I was wearing foundation. This product worked great! Makes my skin look smooth and dewy instead of oily.
My favorite full coverage foundation!
I have very red skin that veers from oily to bone dry on a day to day basis, and this is the best. I loved the Tarte amazonian clay, but it felt a little too oily over time. I apply this with my Fenty foundation brush and achieve the coverage I want on the first layer! Sometimes I’ll touch up some redness on my cheeks with some additional dabs. My skin feels dewy and moisturized all day. A+
This is the first natural foundation I’ve found that is actually buildable and I’m able to see the effects of that! I no longer have to use conealor under my eyes or for blemishes, I just dab extra foundation where it’s needed. I definitely will be repurchasing, and I love the sustainable initiative of the company. My next purchase will be a blush!
As light or heavy as you want to make it
Product has beautiful and sustainable packaging. Very important to prime the skin ideally with an oil to get this to apply smoothly. I love that it can be used as a concealer and foundation. Easy to apply with fingers. Covers redness and dark circles very well. I only use it on these particular areas, but given how well it blends imagine it would also look natural and work well on full face.
Worth the splurge
Finish is matte and blends perfectly. I use for simple spot cover-up, but would work great for all-over coverage.
Great but I wish it was squeezeable!
I switched to this from Tarte clay foundation, and it made me realize how greasy my other foundation made my face! This is great for people with oily skin. After a long 12-hour day at work I’m still not shiny. The downside is that when I do have dry patches (which happens with my medication I’m on) it definitely shows, so I just exfoliate really well beforehand and it’s usually fine. I definitely recommend this if you are wanting to make the switch! The only downside for me is that it’s not in a squeezeable bottle- those are my favorite for minimal bacteria.
Best Make Up EVER
This might be one of my favorite make up products of all time. It has a silky yet matte consistency, and glides on skin flawlessly. Coverage is buildable, so you can end up with a flawless finish. I love to mix with moisturizer which give the finish at dewey sheer coverage. I know it’s pricey, but highly recommend the splurge!
Kjaer Weis is Worth It!
This is one of the first clean beauty purchases I made. Sarah from Follain Bethesda recommended it, and, I have to say, I haven’t missed my old foundation at all! I love how this provides a lighter finish that evens out my skin but still looks very natural!
Very smooth finish
Light to medium coverage but could definitely be builded up more. It finished nicely, looked natural, and lasted well throughout the day. I am very pale and have trouble finding shades that work for me. Based on other reviews online I went with “like porcelain.” It looked nice at first but seemed to change color on my skin after initial application to an orange tone. Sending back because of this but I really liked it overall!
The best concealer/foundation
I love this so much! It’s completely worth the price and lasts forever. I love how well it blends into my skin, and it’s extremely versatile. I can use it as a spot concealer or an all-over foundation. It’s the perfect amount of coverage and it lasts all day.
I had never used this type of foundation before but after becoming used to it I am happy with the coverage it provides. It also can be used to cover dark spots. It does get a bit darker after being on for a while.
I have dry, sensitive, breakout prone skin that can be hard to soothe and also get oily. Most foundations/bb creams leave my skin feeling heavy and oily while not giving a ton of coverage and I’ve tried them all(natural and non-natural). Kjaer Weis goes on smooth, gives a lovely matte finish, has great coverage, and most of all my skin feels like it can breathe still. Added bonus is that I can ditch my coverup and simplify my makeup bag because you can build this up. This is my favorite product I have ever used!
Not sure yet
I’ve heard so much about this product- so I just needed to try it. I’m still not sure about it- seems like it’s too heavy and stays on top of my skin. I may just prefer more of a lightweight foundation. But it seems like a very good high quality product that most likely delivers on hydration and coverage.
I'm a Fan
I really like this foundation. The packaging is luxe and eco friendly, the formula is light with good coverage, its easy to use. Only drawback is that it oxidizes- I purchased Like Porcelain and it looks good when first applied, but it darken after a while. I’m returning to try the lighter shade down Lightness. Hopefully that fixes the problem. Fingers crossed!
This product is very versatile – I add it on top of my moisturized complexion and get a tinted moisturizer finish but you can also dab more on the problem areas for a full coverage finish. I also love the fact I can refill my compact.
Perfect skin in a compact
The best foundation out there, without the toxic ingredients. You only need a bit for a light coverage, but it can easily be built up to medium/full. Creates a perfect, poreless canvas for the rest of your makeup!
superb after you get used to it
I wasn’t sure at first, in part because it looks darker in its case than on. As others have said, you definitely have to moisturize well, and I like to moisturize with a lotion and then an oil before applying this. You also need to warm it in your fingers and/or on your face to spread it. I didn’t care for it a lot at first, but it’s really grown on me now that I’ve figured it out. You can spot cover or build for full foundation. The finish is really lovely. For comparison, the “Paper Thin” works well for me, and the best foundation color match I’ve ever found is Chantecaille’s “Vanilla.” Again, the foundation looked darker in the compact, but good on my face–but a little less pink than what I’d been using. Oh, one more plus: it’s easy to travel with this since it’s a solid and not a liquid and so doesn’t have to fit in the small carry-on ziplock.
This is my new favorite foundation! Perfect for travel or to carry in your purse for touch ups. It looks amazing! I have had compliments every time i wear it. It does not look heavy and your skin looks natural but so perfect! Don’t hesitate to try this!!
This foundation is amazing! This is the first cream foundation I have owned/used so it took a little getting used to, I really did not like it at first… As soon as I figured out how it works best, I fell in love with it. I wear a thin layer of it every day, on top of a face oil, and it feels like nothing is on my skin. It can also be built up for more coverage without getting thick and cakey. It applies beautifully to moisturized skin and looks better and better throughout the day once it melts into your skin. Color looks a bit darker in the pan than it applies on the skin. Most clean foundations do not offer much coverage, but this one is unique & worth the splurge !
Use as a concealer
I use this product as a concealer, especially under my eyes. It’s the closest clean alternative to my previously beloved Cle de Peau concealer. It doesn’t stay on as long, but that’s to be expected. I love that it comes in such beautiful packaging, and that I can buy refills at a lower price.
Wanted to Love
I really like the color palette. I just feel like it does not go on as smooth as other foundations. I typically use it now as a spot treatment instead of a full face foundation.
I really wanted to like it
I really really wanted to like this product – but it was just WAYYYYY too thick for me. It felt like I had layer of makeup on and I could feel it melted off in the heat. This is a beautiful makeup line but this foundation is NOT for me.
Sorry to hear this formula didn’t work out for you! The Gressa Corrective Serum Foundation may be a better fit. It is lightweight but still has buildable coverage!
A stellar product if you can tolerate coconut oil
This is a really quality product, the best full coverage natural foundation I’ve found. The packing is obviously beautiful and also offers you the option to buy refills and put in a z palette but it has coconut oil in it and my skin can’t tolerate it, I had to give it up. Beautiful smooth cream to powder finish though.
Beautiful packaging & finish
I love the packaging. It feels like it’s a modern version of something my grandmother used. It’s has a nice heft to it, and the slide to open is genius. The foundation itself is really easy to apply with your fingers or a brush. It has a creamy / powdery feel, that doesn’t leave you shiny and it’s easy to build on if you need to more coverage in certain areas.
It’s a bit pricey, but it’s so cool that you can refill it and keep the beautiful case. The only negative is that when you get low on the product, it’s hard to get the final bits (they kind of stick to the corners).
