This serum is revolutionary- it’s a clean, tinted mineral SPF 40 serum with light coverage and an extra dewy finish that provides skincare benefits. The formula is weightless—without a white cast—and patented with non-nano zinc oxide to support skincare effectiveness. It also safely shields skin from UVA, UVB, UVC, blue light, and infrared light. This product is clinically tested, noncomedogenic, and safe for sensitive skin.
- Plant-Based Squalane: Helps support skin and improves the appearance of elasticity.
- Non-Nano Zinc Oxide: A clean, mineral sunscreen that safely shields skin from UVA, UVB, UVC, blue light and infrared.
- Hyaluronic Acids (Macro + Micro): Help to visibly plump skin and seal in hydration.
- Niacinamide: Visibly improves and smooths skin texture.
Shake well before applying to clean skin. Dispense quarter of a dropper into palms of hand and apply like a serum. On application, shade will appear lighter and will adapt to its true color. Allow the serum to dry for one to two minutes before following with the next steps in your routine.
As a result of the silicone-free formula, some natural separation may occur. This is normal and it will reform when applied to skin.

About The Brand
Sasha Plavsic founded ILIA after her mother encouraged her to read the ingredients on the label of her favorite lip balm. She was shocked to discover that many of the ingredients weren’t safe. Sasha set out to recreate her favorite lip balm with clean, skin-centric ingredients, and the idea for ILIA was born. Today, ILIA challenges the conventions of clean beauty to create safe, potent formulas that protect and revive your skin.
An ok product
Pros: High SPF, pretty finish, decent coverage for a skin tint
Cons: Clung onto dry patches and any other skin imperfection, sat on top of the skin instead of looking like skin, shade matching was difficult (though product is very forgiving)
All-in-all, I felt like it was just ok. I wanted to like it because I’ve enjoyed other ilia products but it just didn’t agree with my skin type and texture. I was definitely expecting more from a $50 product.
Good product but...
I really like the coverage of this product and it gives a dewy finish which I can tone down a bit with setting powder.. the only negative is that it smells SO weird/bad. I don’t know if I just have an overly-sensitive sense of smell but I have to hold my breath when applying it. I’m not sure if there’s even supposed to be a smell.. no one else in the reviews mentioned it and most makeup is unscented.. Is it possible there was something wrong with this batch? I’ll keep using it because I do really like how it looks, but I don’t think I’d buy it again :/
I wanted to love this product and it goes on nicely..but after 2 hours my face looks shiny and almost like I’m sweating. I bought the powder to help and unfortunately it doesn’t help.
Love this for light coverage!
I use this on top of my daily SPF moisturizer when I want to even-out my complexion. I put 3-4 drops on my finger tips and pat it all over my face then lightly rub it in for an even application. This serum gives me the perfect amount of coverage–it doesn’t look like I’m wearing foundation and it still gives my skin an even tone and covers my red spots/areas (acne scars, T-zone). It also leaves my skin looking slightly dewy but not oily or overly-wet. It’s perfect for everyday use and it doesn’t feel heavy.
amazing multitasker but beware if you're acne-prone
I tried a couple of samples of this product and I was super excited to find a formula that would let me condense my moisturizer + sunscreen + foundation routine into a single step. After years of covering breakouts with heavy foundation my skin was finally clear enough to try a lighter formula like this. I was so excited that I forgot about the issues I’ve had with foundations and lip products triggering breakouts. After two days of using this product on clean skin I developed some small red bumps and whiteheads and a large, cystic pimple. I haven’t changed anything else about my skincare routine in months so I’m afraid there’s no other explanation. I’m so disappointed because I love the finish, but breakouts are a deal breaker for me.
So far, so good
I have very dry, very sensitive skin and have trouble finding SPFs that don’t cause painful reactions. I’ve only used this product less than a week, but haven’t experienced any reactions so far (I usually know by the end of a full day if a product won’t work). It’s not quite as lightweight as I hoped, but that’s an easy trade-off. My skin is on the more mature side, so I like the way this gives me a natural glow and evens out my tone without being too overpowering.
I’ll start by saying that I am a person who HATES wearing foundation. It always felt like my skin was suffocating. The YSL Touche Eclat Tinted Moisturizer was the only product I could ever tolerate. About a year ago I decided to look for a clean alternative, and having used and liked the ILIA concealer I decided to try the Skin Tint.
I really like it – instead of forming a layer atop the skin like other products, it seems to melt into my moisturizer while still providing an even layer of coverage. My only complaint is that it doesn’t last the entire day, by the evening it feels like my makeup is gone. I also agree with other reviewers that it’s best when paired with a very light dusting of setting powder, particularly in the summer.
Wanted to love it
Like some of the other reviews have stated, it goes on looking a bit lighter than it eventually ends up being. Seems it needs to settle in for a few before it’s done. Once it does settle it looks okay, but I didn’t love it. Feels a bit oily and dry at the same time. Funky. I found it looked better when I applied it with a brush. Finished the bottle but won’t buy again.
Wow! I was hesitant to purchase because of some of the mixed reviews but I’m so glad that I did! I’m getting married in December and wanted a something simple and beautiful that would even things out and cover redness. This is absolutely perfect! I have dry patches and don’t need to use any moisturizer underneath. I have been trying to use Kjaer Weis cream foundation over it as a concealer and notice that it dries it out so I’ll be using a different councealer. I noticed a lot of reviews said that it has an awful smell, but I actually think it smells good! It does kind of smell like sunscreen but in a very pleasant way. I believe I have dry to normal skin and this works perfectly. I am pale with cool undertones and the lightest shade works best for me. Definitely work the money! 🙂
you need to set it in
ordered ST6 ora color… great for light olive toned skin. At first, it appears lighter then settles to your skin tone. As it is a moisturizer and foundation in one, you need to set it with loose powder or setting powder or your complexion will look super greasy. light coverage. may not be a good solution for very oily complexions
Not great for all skin types
I’ve read and watched a lot of mixed reviews for this product. I have oily, acne prone skin. I am not one to have time for a ten step morning skin care, so I really wanted to love this all in one approach. I put it on freshly cleansed skin, no other products on. You will use quite a lot to work all over your face and neck. This product is extremely moisturizing! It feels wonderful going on but the finish looks wet like you’ve just misted your face with oil. Color match was perfect, I went with S8 and it does slightly hide blemish scars and redness. Makeup does sit nicely on top and setting it helps. Unfortunately, I am worried this product has been breaking me out. I am still testing this product but will not likely repurchase as I find it feeling much too thick and oily. I am looking for something more breathable and natural finish. For very dry skin, this product will probably work best.
I didn’t really know what to expect when first buying this product. I was looking for something I could use during the day instead of an SPF moisturizer, so I purchased. LESS IS MORE WHEN USING THIS PRODUCT! It looks fabulous on the skin, and if you like less of a dewy look, then definitely use a powder to mattify everything. Will be buying again!
I'll cry if they stop making this!
this product couldn’t be more perfect for my skin needs. Light, evening coverage: check. High SPF: check. Moisturizing: check. I love that it illuminates the need for layering multiple products, because who wants to do that during the hot sticky summer? I highly recommend visiting Ilia’s website to color match yourself to the girl who looks most like you. I did that and got an absolutely perfect match. I agree with another reviewer who said the formula sets darker than it initially goes on, and another reviewer who said this is best for those with already clear skin. Does not cover of breakouts!
perfect spf and tinted moisturizer
This is amazing! I would say it is definitely best for people with clear skin, and normal skin. I do have dry skin, so to make it work for me I apply squaline oil from indie lee first before this. Usually I put some bronzer on after, but you might need setting powder and it comes off easily as you begin to sweat. It looks so beautiful on, and really enhances and evens my skin tone
Lightweight with Light Coverage
I LOVE this product! I was using a tinted moisturizer before this and I feel like this is a comparable clean alternative! It goes on like a tinted moisturizer and provides the perfect amount of light coverage. It evens out my skin without weighing it down and provides a nice little healthy glow. The store associate said it would dry darker than it looks coming out of the bottle and she was right. It was definitely worth a trip to Follain for a color match!
